Daria.

If you don't recognize the cartoon character and you are a female in her late teens I absolutely feel sorry for your childhood. The teen above has appeared in many Beavis and Butthead episodes and has never lost sight of who she is. This my friend is Daria Morgendorrffer, a teenage girl living in her small town of Lawndale with her mother Helen, father Jake and her popular sister Quinn who denies being related to her on a daily basis. Daria has one best friend named Jane Lane who has an older (bad boy, rocker) brother, Trent that Daria has a crush on. The overall story line is basically non existent, however, one can not deny how relate able, intriguing and comical it is. Daria, who is very emotionless, sarcastic and observant finds herself in many odd situations that teen girls in the late 90s and early 2000s could relate to. Even now I watch episodes can get ideas on how to deal with certain issues. Miss Morgendorrffer reminds me of myself in more ways than one; she is the one friend everyone goes to for advice, has a don't care attitude, she just can't seem to say no to somebody in need...even if they treat her like crap and she even shares a huge love for pizza like yours truly. It takes a certain type of person to enjoy the show and I am one of them! I could watch a marathon of her monotone voice dealing with dramas all day and never want it to end. I truly wish that the show was still on the MTV airways instead of the crappy lineup they have now (Catfish, Teen Mom, Girl Code, Real World, 16 and Pregnant) maybe then my younger sister would understand my phenomenal sense of humor. (Or not)

Tyler, The Good Samaritan

This has to be one of (if not my favorite) the best videos Tyler, The Creator has put out. In it he gives out free brand new clothes that he hasn't worn to the homeless in California. Of course you see his goofy, care free, cursing side but you also see him giving back to the community and I applaud him. Watch the video below.

partynextdoor part II

I know you guys didn't think I would do a OVO post and leave a new favorite artist of mine out... Absolutely not. The mystical human being that goes by PARTYNEXTDOOR is planning to release something on July 1st!!! Not really sure what it is just yet, but I'm hopping it's a 100 track mixtape. OK, I'm getting my hopes up now but I could listen to this guy all week. I recommend that those who haven't jumped to the neighbors house yet come on over and party with us party goers because he is bound to be huge one day soon. Especially with Drake backing his talent up. (no pun intended) A new track from PARTY was put on the October's Very Own site recently and I'm addicted already (knock next door). If his mysterious July 1st release is anything like this I will be a happy camper all year. Enjoy loves.

OVO

June has most definitely proven to be a huge month for Drake and the rest of his OVO family and there is only more success and press (whether good or bad) to come. Just recently he announced the release date for his third studio album Nothing Was The Same (September 17th...for now.) He has also released tour dates for Would You Like A Tour? (seen here) featuring Miguel and Future. He has also given his fans who just cant seem to wait for more new music 4 tracks that seem to be actual tracks from NWTS or just some he just wanted to share until this fall, listen to them right hea'.  I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing more of this talented Canadian this year.

Magna Carta Holy Grail

Pharrell, Timbaland, Rick Rubin, Swizz Beatz, and July 4th. What do they all have in common? The one and only Jay Z's new album entitled Magna Carta Holy Grail. The commercial with all of the guys working hard and harldy working in what looks like a studio apartment overlooking a wonderful view of a city premiered during the NBA Finals. I wonder if people will get all bent out of shape due to the name of Jay's album like they did with Kanye because I mean.. Holy Grail is religious too.. Just saying. I'm still looking forward to the album though, the way it sounds on the commercial so far is absolutely insane. But I mean come on, anything that Jay Z and the other noblemen featured in the commercial touch turn to GOLD. (pun intended)

Yeezus

I know I'm late, I apologize but I'm fairly busy this summer. However, I am not too busy to tell you how I feel about Kanye's album Yeezus... I may be bias, but I love the entire album from beginning to end. To me, it's kind of like an angry, no hold barred extension to his fifth album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (which I still enjoy listening to til this day) Every track is great. Every line is crazy. Every beat is perfection. Every song paints a visual picture. It's wonderful. If you are a fan of all types of genres of music, you will absolutely be prone to enjoy the album more than a rap/hip hop fan. The end.

Crooked Smile

Here's a very intimate performance J.Cole did of his song Crooked Smile featuring TLC for one of my favorite radio shows Power 105 The Breakfast Club. Something about it made me get chills and want to get all teary eyed, I have no clue why lol. Maybe it was the lighting... And oh yeah, I love the scruffy look Jermaine! Enjoy peeps.

You Should Listen...

June is proving to be a great start to the long and hot summer to come weather and music wise! While we are all looking forward to the releases of J.Cole Mac Miller, Quadron and Kanye West we can not forget about all the underground artists out there! Recently, I have been zoning to Young Money's first lady of R and B Shanell's latest mixtape titled Midnight Mimosas. I most certainly recommend that all you girls out there who plan on riding to the beach with some friends or those of you who have just broken up with an asshole (excuse my french lol) to download this tape! It's so smooth and catchy, definently something made for this time of year. It's so good I can't even pick a favorite track haha. Enjoy loves. (:
